Historical Soc. Proposed For Anita

By Albert Karns, Jr.

A proposal has been put forward to form an association named “Town of Anita Historic Association, Inc.” The plan is to be centered on information about Anita Evergreen Cemetery .

At present it would be important for the Cemetery Board to enforce traffic rules. At best, traffic entering the cemetery should be authorized temporary parking in the proximity of the cemetery office. The roads in the cemetery shold be named and some of the roads should be one way. The traffic should make a right turn onto a one-way street exiting to named street or until reaching a one-way street and advancing on it until exiting to a named street or until reaching exit. Driver could reconnect to original one-way street at this point. Parallel parking could be authorized on named street; possibly on left or right shoulder, also possibly on the right side of the one-way street. This plan has been favored by funeral directors as there are at times “traffic jams.” Also it is important that street signs be obtained. On one-way streets, direction signs would be needed.

With the Cemetery Board and the Historical Board working together, such signs could be available locally. If the two would provide stencils, possibly high school students could help.
